Welcome back to 9 news 6:00 we are 17 days away from opening ceremonies. This mornings 620 side bar we will learn more about the alpine ski team even though we dont know who is officially on it until this afternoon. Picabo street. How are you? >> Good morning i am well thank you and you. >> Good thank you. We were supposed to have the alpine team announcement yesterday but it is postponed until today. They are waiting reallocation of quotas. What does that mean? >> There is a criteria made available to athletes at the beginning of the year. If you meet one of those then you are automatically qualified for the team. What happens if they dont have everyone meets those criterias, then they have to go into a coaches discretionary position and that gets tricky basically because everyone has to sit down and hash out which athlete is going to be made an olympian and it is an important decision so they try to take their time and make sure they make the right choice. They are making a big difference in someones life. >> We know a couple names, bodi miller and lyndsey van. I know you are close to her. She is in all five disciplines in the olympics but never medalled. What are her chances in vancouver? >> Well, in her first game she was really young just getting the first jitters out of your system and trying to come in and compete on that stage. You cant just cruise in there you have to bring it. So i think in turino we know she was put through a test there with that back injury she had and what not she really raced 70 to 75% there and she got all the olympic jitters out of her system. She scenariod everything now she can focus on winning which is something she does every day. All she has to do is repeat that. If she looks at it from the right perspective she has less people to beat every day because every country is only allowed to have four athletes per event. She has great chances i hope she prevails she is the kind of role model we need >> i know you will do things for the today show. Also since retiring after salt lake you have concentrated on family, have your three boys, now you have taken a step educating women about birth control. We have a little bit of time for you to talk about that. >> Well, you know, once i had zach, my husband and i started looking at choices in the permanent birth control category. All we found were surgeries and me just having been through what i have medically i was like there has got to be something else out there that has come up people dont know i found essure and it felt too good to be true i thought come on there has to be more to this. Have it done in your gynecologists office so i called and made an appointment and talked to her about it and she said no, it is that easy. I had the procedure it took 5 minutes. I was back making oat meal in a couple hours and havent looked back honestly i know in about i had my procedure done in december three months i go in and have a confirmation test i 99 .8% Protected and no unplanned pregnancies and i can go on being the referee and mom that i am. >> Look forward to your commentary in vancouver. >> Thank you. >> To find out more about the olympics go to 9news.Com look for the olympic zone.
